Use of the Wreck Room is for PLYC members, their guests, and members of reciprocal yacht clubs. Operating hours are posted in the upper right hand corner of this page. Questions about the Wreck Room should be directed to Mary Ann Callahan.
To staff the facility, we will need the help of many volunteers. Please call or email Mike Platt to volunteer. Thank you!
Answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Wreck Room:
- Who is eligible to use the facility? Is it open to the public? May I bring guests?
- Use of the Wreck Room is for PLYC members, their guests, and members of reciprocal yacht clubs, persons who are in good standing of other yacht clubs licensed as private fraternal clubs. All guests must be accompanied by a PLYC member while in the Wreck Room. PLYC members, their guests, and reciprocal yacht club members using the Wreck Room must present their membership card, and sign in upon entering.
- Where is the entry to the building?
- We will be using the handicapped entrance at the side door of the Wreck Room building as the main entrance. This is to enhance security by having only one open entrance. During special events, the door at the parking lot entrance will be open.
- May I bring my grandchildren?
- Because the Club will be serving liquor, no one under the age of 21 will be allowed in the Wreck Room or on the terrace. The Washington State Liquor Board is very strict regarding this requirement.
- May I bring my pet?
- Pets are not permitted in the Wreck Room or on the terrace.
How much do drinks cost?
There are two levels of pricing for alcoholic beverages (bar and call).
- bar wine, beer, and well drinks are $3
- bar mixed drinks are $4
- call beer is $4
- call wine and call drinks are $5
- call mixed drinks are $6
- non-alcoholic drinks are $1
At this time, beverage purchases are by cash or personal check only. A bar drinks menu is available at the Wreck Room.
Is food available the Wreck Room?
- Yes! The Resort at Port Ludlow has created a special menu for our Club. Members who would like food may order from a phone in the Club and the Inn will deliver. Menus are available in the Club. Payment will be made directly to the server who delivers the food. Food may also be ordered from other local restaurants, or members may bring their own.
- What kind of special social events are planned?
- Jerri Reid has volunteered to organize special events in addition to the usual days that the club is open. Details will be sent via email, will be posted on the PLYC Web site, and on the Marina Bulletin Board.
- Will the Club have a book and video library available to members?
- Yes. The implementation team plans to have books, a video library, and game boards of all types available. If you have DVDs, books, or games you would like to donate, please contact Mary Ann Callahan.
- How do I schedule meetings at the Wreck Room?
- Contact Vice Commodore Mike Platt, who is responsible for scheduling.
- Are we going to extend invitations to yacht clubs that hosted us in the past?
- Absolutely.
- Will it ever be possible for members to use the facility any time with a pass card lock system?
- At this point the answer is no for reasons related to security, maintenance, heating, and electricity requirements.
- Who do I call with questions?
- Email Member-at-Large Mary Ann Callahan or call her at 437-7775.
